Hi there. New on here so introducing myself and my colleagues from L+C=P. In short: [right] Leadership + [better] Climate delivers [improved] Performance. We have many years of experience in this space and find very often working with large and small companies across many differing sectors that there are a number of common themes arising if people are honest with themselves. These themes are:
* Very mixed results in recruiting the right people - often because there hasn't been absolute clarity on what we're looking for to start with
* Difficulties in getting the right calibre of management - often in small companies which are owner-managed it's difficult to find/trust that 1st layer of management needed in order for the owner to start to let go of day to day control
* Difficulties in retaining some people and creating an expectation of high performance - resulting in tolerating poor performance when you know we should have got rid of some people sooner!
* Knowing what a great high-performing climate looks like and what the expectations of the team are
* Knowing clearly what direction we must head in, in order to be successful - and how we share that with the team
* Knowing exactly where the performance issues are and what to do about them
I'd be fascinated to learn if any of this resonates with people, and learn of your own experiences in these areas and challenges.
Thanks
Steve Windsor

Hi Steve,
Welcome to The Business Circuit - Great to have you on board.
I think recruiting; particularly in small companies is always a challenge. In my past experiences, one of the most difficult things i actually found was finding people that fitted the culture of the business in terms of their personality while still being a high quality candidate in other areas.
