I am not one to be all doom and gloom, but it is inevitable that we are going to be getting some pretty cold / grotty weather over the coming weeks.

We have been lucky so far this year, as it has been fairly mild - Buy I hear tonight, that temp is going to start hitting 0 by the end of next week.

How does this effect your business ?

Mine will be slightly hit as the bike / trailer wont be out as much, hence why I am working on a contingency plan :silent: - Althought, I am lucky as I have a Landrover Discovery to get me to where I want to go :D

If last year was anything to go by, I spent most of my spare time transporting people about and towing cars home

Yes, I've been waiting for the day when i wake up to this years first big pile of snow. Definitely could do with a 4x4 this year!

I'm hoping that its not going to have too much of a drastic impact, but no doubt it will cause mass disruptions again when it starts to fall...
Cheers,

John

Snow could potentially be quite good for our forums if everyone stays at home on their computers!

Incidently, I have some friends who work for one of the local councils in the NW, (gritter waggon drivers) who are all preying for the Arctic Weather to arrive - At the moment, they are tweeting weather reports to each other as they are all on call

The only way snow effects my business is if the schools close and I have to have the kids at home. Once last year we all got our kids to school (which is in the next village), they then announced that they would make a decision in the next hour about if they would need to close the school and sure enough they closed.

After my husband did some test driving with winter tyres, we will be getting winter tyres fitted in the next week or so.

Winter Tyres are fantastic, it's amazing the difference they make. Especially if you have a 4 wheel drive car. A friend of mine had some last year and i couldn't believe how much they helped.

Yesterday in Stockport, we had strong winds and heavy rain - We are now told this was a Tornado ! (Although I am not convinced) Only recently, a bit or wind and rain is now classed as weather condition we dont normally see in the UK - You didnt hear of this in the, ahem, 70's / 80's

Guess who was out in that on the way home ?

Working from home, cold weather doesn't affect our business apart from our colleague cannot get in if the weather is too severe. We have a bad weather policy in place and if necessary a 4 x 4 to go and collect him. The bad weather affects my husbands other business more. This is the family farm and if it snows like last year we need to make access so that the milk lorry can come and collect the milk. We lost one tankful last year as it couldn't get through. we also need to make sure that the animals are ok and have pleny of food.
Regards,
Elaine
