Business Marketing Sales
When you begin a new business, the first thing that you need to do is choose a niche and determine your target audience. This may sound like a simple task but unless you know exactly who you are serving, you will find it more than difficult to keep your business head above water. Here are a few tips for choosing the right niche from the beginning and finding the audience that needs what you have to offer.
  • Be clear about what you are offering. Think long and hard about the product or service that you are selling. This is a bit trickier than it sounds. Think about this – restaurants all sell food. Some restaurants however target busier individuals by offering a drive-thru service. Some restaurants specialize in seafood while others specialize in serving only sandwiches. You have to be completely sure of what it is that you are selling and what need that product or service fills.
  • You have to focus on what you are offering. You could easily become a Jack of All Trades and overwhelm your customers with more products or services than they know what to do with. You have to focus on that one special trait that you offer – the one that no other company has.
  • Choose your niche. You will need to identify your niche and then play up to the strengths that fall within that niche. Choosing your niche carefully and building on it will enable you to reach those people who truly need the product or service that you offer.
  • Identify your target customers. This is an important step in the overall scheme of things and one that you just cannot afford to get wrong. Find those who need your product or service. This is your target audience and who you should be directing all of your marketing to.
  • Give them exactly what they want. Once you identify your market and your niche, it should be fairly easy to give your customers what they want. Do a bit of research and learn what people are looking for with regards to your business. Create a business message that speaks to your market while it reinforces your brand identity.
