Choosing The Right Office

Business Office Space Tips Advice
Businesses come in all shapes and sizes. For every mammoth company such as Amazon or Virgin, there’s a small fledgling SEO firm just breaking out. From 1 employee to a thousand, a business is a business at the end of the day. The bottom line is providing that service or providing those goods.

Which means you’ll most likely need some form of office space.

Choosing the right office is very much like choosing the right home. There’s a lot to consider, both short term and long term.

Location
Obviously, this is crucial. Where your office is affects pretty much every other decision. Choosing the right location is essential, not only from a practical standpoint, but from a perception one too. If you have regular client interaction via meetings then there’s little sense in having an office out in the middle of nowhere.

Likewise, if you rarely venture out or take visitors, then do you need an office in the city centre? Travel might be difficult and rent might be higher than you want to pay.

Size
Contrary to popular belief, there are certain situations where size is important. And the office is one of them. Once you’ve found where you want to have your office, you need to choose the right size for your needs.

This is where the long term/short term plan comes into play. If you only have a few people, then a small office might be perfect. But what happens if you plan to expand? You might not need that extra space right now, but you can use it for various other things in the meantime; storage space, rest room etc.

Of course, it’s unwise to go too far outside your budget so be realistic. Will you need that space in 6 months? A year? Two years?

Facilities
If you’ve found the right place and the right size, now is the time to check if it has the elements you need on a day-to-day level. Is the electrical system adequate for your needs? Are there enough toilets? What about car parking spaces; not just for you and your employees, but visiting clients?

Is the office furnished or will you have to allocate extra funds for desks and chairs?

The important thing to remember is that you will likely be spending 8 hours a day, 5 days a week in this place. Ignore the “want it done quick” mentality and go for the “want it done right” path.
