#1570 Students Pushed Towards Entrepreneurship

Posted by Business Circuit on 10 November 2011 - 04:07 PM

With record levels of new graduates and school leavers struggling to find work, students are now being encouraged to consider a career in business by new scheme "Entrepreneur First". They offer a two-year programme that will involve young people receiving mentoring from entrepreneurs, legal advice, training courses, software, and networking opportunities with businesses and investors.

Do you think that more young people should be encouraged to go into business for themselves as an alternative to university or employment?

#3529 Online dating - a male dominated industry

Posted by NPDating on 23 February 2013 - 04:07 PM

Did you know that the vast majority of online dating sites are predominantly run by men? There is nothing necessarily wrong with that, it's just that it seems slightly strange that an industry that deals with individuals hopes, dreams and feelings is so male dominated. Of course, as with any industry, the main concern for it's customers is that the online dating sites are efficient, and provide a value for money service. Nice people dating is unique within the world of online dating in that it is entirely owned by a woman, and one who understands the sorts of issues that concern her members. Because it is affiliated to one of the largest online dating forums in the UK it combines the very latest search tools with UK customer service. Ensuring that it's members have a successful and pleasant online dating experience. Nice people dating combines the female perspective on relationship issues with the most cutting edge online dating technology available. It is a winning combination, and it works!

#1578 Sole trader v Limited companies

Posted by MvM on 10 November 2011 - 07:51 PM

The difference between setting up as a sole trader v Limited company has advantages and dis-advantages for both.

Sole Trader

As a sole trader (self employed) you are the business, quite easy to set up just telephone HMRC With your business name and with the date you intend to go self employed and that's pretty much it!

You will have complete control over the business and you will keep all the profits after tax. The dis-advantage is that the laws do not separate you from you're business so if the business runs into trouble then you will have all the financial and legal responsibility to adhere too.

You fill simple tax returns in each year and accounting is low end and simple.

Limited Companies.

Setting a limited company up is more difficult and contains more paperwork and you have to adhere to directors duites so it can become quite complex and mind boggling! (Don't let that put you off!)

A limited company is a seperate entity to yourself, you are no longer the business this is seperate. You will become a director and employee of your company, you can distribute shares of the company to other individuals etc.. Profits becomes the companies and not yours and you will be paid as a employee and shareholder if you take this route, by taking this route you are entitled to dividends from the company.

With a limited company you have limited liability, for instance if the business gets into trouble and is sued then the company gets sued and not you, but if you was a sole trader you would probabley be sued (not in all cases though) the accounting side is more difficult with taxes and you have the corporation tax on top of this, it would be advisable to employ a accountant to do such work if you are unsure on what to do.

So what are the advantages and dis-advantages?

Sole trader

Advantage

• Keep all profits after tax
• Less accounting and paper work
• Pretty much ring up and get going!

Dis-advantages

• You become liable for the business debts
• Sometimes businesses are sceptical about dealing with sole traders.
• You may pay higher tax

Limited company

Advantages

• Limited liability to debts occurred from the business
• A more professional look about your business
• Possible tax savings (may have changed now though)
• Less of a risk

Dis-advantages

• You are a employee/director so don't get all the profits
• Higher amount of administration and accounting
• More time consuming and costs more to set up

Most people start off as sole traders then incorporate at a later date, I usually advise 6 months as a sole trader then look to limited depending on your revenue.

But in some industries they only deal with limited companies so you may have to set up limited to begin with, one piece of advice I tell every client is..... Please go and see a accountant before making any financial decisions!

PRESS RELEASE

New Service Aims to Save Time and Money to Busy People

A new Concierge Service for Household Bills is going live next week in the UK. Bill Harvest Ltd, a professional purchasing company, promises to save its members time and money by searching and finding them the best available deals on energy (gas, electricity), telecoms (landline, broadband and mobiles), insurance (home, health) and breakdown cover. The company arranges the switch over, too, for its members. Its founder Drew Morrow, says of the new service:

“Bill Harvest is much more than a comparison site as our experts will be trawling the whole market - not just a part of it - for the benefit of our members. Once we find them better deals, we continue monitoring the offers constantly looking for savings, removing hassle and information overload. The service will be free to all of those who register during the month of December,” says Mr Morrow.

Since the emergence of online price comparison sites and the relaxation of the rules of switching suppliers, customers have had more options and tools at their disposal to find better deals for their utilities. However, recent findings have shown shortcomings of the comparison sites. A study by Which? consumer magazine showed that about 70% of the deals in the market available to the customers are not included in some comparison site searches.

Bill Harvest Ltd maintains its independence by its commitment to be totally transparent about any commissions it might be entitled to in the process of switching the customers and use them to the benefit of its members.

#3175 Effective communication can be on the tip of anyone’s tongue.

Posted by The Presenters Handbook on 10 October 2012 - 08:04 AM

New book proves effective communication can be on the tip of anyone’s tongue.

With most people sighing at the sight of yet another PowerPoint presentation, Phillip Adcock and Ian Callow aim to improve everyone’s mundane public speaking skills and turn people into effective masters of communication with their book “The Presenter’s Handbook”

(PR NewsChannel) / September 26, 2012 / LONDON/ Giving presentations and communicating with authority are public speaking skills expected by every employer in the current business climate. However, with thirty million new PowerPoint presentations being created every day, not everyone can hold the floor with a tight grip. Wanting to whip these speaking stalwarts into shape, Phillip Adcock and Ian Callow today announced the launch of their new book: “The Presenter’s Handbook”.

Calling on over sixty years of combined experience, the two business communications psychologists and communication experts showcase a vast range of effective communication strategies and methods that are poised to completely transform the way individuals speak in public, deliver presentations and communicate in all walks of their life.

“Whether you are selling, educating, informing, sharing or even preaching, the contents of ‘The Presenter’s Handbook’ will transform your presentation skills and communication ability, starting immediately” says Phillip Adcock. “You’ll be able to powerfully apply the lessons not only when you present, but in many other communications-related aspects of your life, such as any time that you meaningfully interact with other human beings face-to-face.”

The book’s step-by-step approach also tackles some of the fundamental issues holding back even the most confident speaker from reaching their full potential. The book offers public speaking skills and strategies such as converting nerves into positive, charismatic energy and discloses secrets on how to embed your words permanently into the minds of an audience. “The Presenter’s Handbook” is anyone and everyone’s guide to presenting success.

The authors have a solid foundation in the bedrock of their subject that adds to the credibility of their book. Phillip Adcock brings over thirty years of human behavioral research to the podium. Combined with Ian Callow’s decades of experience as a director of training, with client lists including some of the top Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, both contributors lay out a definitive and valid roadmap to increasing the skills of any presenter’s ability to provide effective communication.

“Readers will find that so many parts of their existing presenting strategy do work, and work well. However, this book will help them discover and correct the weak links in their own chain; the areas causing the entire process to malfunction,” says Callow. “By utilizing the mentioned strategies, everyone will turn the final page ready to walk into their next presentation and engage their audience with gusto.”

Both Callow and Adcock acknowledge that their book isn’t alone on the communication shelves of bookstores. However, Adcock explains that “The Presenter’s Handbook” is different from other titles currently on the market by identifying how his and Callow’s research has identified a dearth of titles that bring together PowerPoint and public speaking skills, particularly in respect of the effectiveness of the communication being presented and received.

“The Presenter’s Handbook” is produced entirely in the UK, and is available to order from most book shops in both the United Kingdom and globally via UK based Internet retailers and www.amazon.com. Paperback ISBN 9780957190900, RRP $16.77 (£9.99): Hardback ISBN 978-0957190917, RRP $30.99 (£14.24): Kindle $9.57 (£5.98).

About the Authors: Phillip Adcock is a leading authority on people’s behaviour. With more than 30 years of human behavioural research, he has developed a unique ability to identify what it is that makes people tick, both psychologically and physiologically. He works in an advantageous position of not being constrained within any particular brain science field. Moreover, Phillip has developed his skills by combining the teachings of experts on numerous aspects of neuroscience, psychology and emotion within his professional role of helping leading brands and retailers better understand how to communicate with their customers.

Ian Callow is an experienced director of training, which has developed his interpersonal communication skills, in conjunction with an increased understanding of a presenter’s physiology and psychology. Ian has presented and trained thousands of delegates within an array of industry sectors including corporate, MOD, police, NHS and education. This wide breadth of people experience is what developed Ian’s interest in the subjects of psychology and physiology and how it can be applied to the training environment.

#2972 Calltracks Limited Demonstrates Return on Investment Tool

Posted by Calltracks on 11 July 2012 - 08:54 PM

Leading call tracking company Calltracks Limited has demonstrated its Return on Investment Tool, by providing a real world case study.

Northamptonshire, UK: UK based Calltracks Limited has demonstrated features of its Return on Investment Tool by publishing a real world example case study.

The figurers which are taken from leading lights in the UK motor industry and clearly demonstrate the tool can work out how much money a business makes per outbound phone call.

The example Calltracks choose showed one company made a sale on average every seven outbound calls. This equated to an average figure of £45 return on investment per phone call.

The next company which is the larger of the two made a sale on average every 20 outbound phone calls made, and on average made £18 per call.

Stuart Buckley, CEO of Calltracks Limited said: “As you can see one company is making more than double on average than the other, curiously, the company which is making more has a smaller turnover than the one that is making less.”

Calltracks Limited Return on Investment tool takes into account all factors such as salaries, call costs, administrative overheads and any other factors companies wish to include and can be tied to specific marketing campaigns.

“The case study showed that the bigger company was not making as much the small company in terms of outbound sales calls. This could be for a number of reasons, but does not necessarily point to inefficiencies as the business model is a big factor. Nonetheless, the returns on investment figures do make for good further reading.

“Return on investment is the bottom line, and together with our call tracking and call recording tools, we can provide it.”

Calltracks Limited continuously strives to bring businesses the best in call tracking and return on investment software, empowering them to streamline their company into an efficient cost effective business.

The return on investment case study can be viewed by following this link:

http://www.calltrack...call-case-study

About Calltracks Limited
